Anaphylaxis Awareness Week 2019
Today marks the first day of Anaphylaxis Awareness Week 2019. This initiative, set up by the Anaphylaxis Campaign, is designed to show solidarity and support whilst also raising awareness and funds for people affected by severe allergies.
What is Anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction which can be fatal. The condition affects children and adults alike and can develop suddenly, often within minutes of being exposed to an allergy trigger. Common triggers include food (e.g. nuts, seafood), insect stings or certain drugs.
The Anaphylaxis Campaign
The Anaphylaxis Campaign is the only UK based charity solely supporting people at risk of severe allergic reactions. They provide a whole host of services, such as supplying essential information and advice to those suffering, providing advice and resources to nurseries, schools and universities, as well as working with healthcare professionals and food and drink industries in order to raise awareness and provide safety for all those at risk of a severe allergic reaction.
The Anaphylaxis Campaign receives no government funding and relies wholly on donations in order to operate. In order to support the Anaphylaxis Campaign and the essential work they are doing nationwide, we are donating £1 from every Medpac sold during Anaphylaxis Awareness Week, so why not buy a Medpac this week and help us support their vital work.
